To visit the EU, United States residents will need an ETIAS. All residents living in states that have agreed on the Visa-Free Travel Treaty, except the European Union, must apply for ETIAS to freely travel to Schengen countries starting in 2025.
Both US citizens and residents of other countries that are not members of the European Union with visa-free travel will be required to acquire an ETIAS. Before boarding, all airlines, ferries, transportation operators, and bus companies will check that passengers have an approved ETIAS form, a valid travel authorization. The Visa Waiver program will be closely monitored.
According to the most recent information, ETIAS will be open to 60 non-EU countries, including the United States, starting in 2025. There will be a six-month transition period before the system will be enforced.
Once the ETIAS program is established, the actual statistic will be made public. The fees will pay for the operating system and the high-quality personnel. Children will be able to obtain ETIAS approval for free.
